Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of skin orbicularis oculi muscle resection combined with orbicularis oculi muscle shortening in the treatment of degenerative lower eyelid entropion. Methods A total of 66 patients with degenerative lower eyelid entropion admitted to the Department of Ophthalmology, Weihai Municipal Second Hospital from January 2021 to September 2022 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 33 cases in each group. The control group was treated with orbicularis oculi muscle shortening. The observation group was treated with skin orbicularis oculi muscle resection combined with orbicularis oculi muscle shortening. The ocular symptom scores and surgical satisfaction scores were compared between the two groups. Results The OSDI score of the two groups at 3 months after operation was lower than those before operation, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P <0.05). The satisfaction scores of appearance, trichiasis correction, scar appearance, binocular symmetry and comfort in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of skin orbicularis oculi muscle resection combined with orbicularis oculi muscle shortening in the treatment of degenerative lower eyelid entropion is good. It has the characteristics of high aesthetics and good curative effect. Meanwhile, it can effectively improve the eye symptoms of patients, improve the satisfaction of operation, and is worthy of clinical application.
