Abstract:Objective To explore the application of combined orthodontic and restorative treatment in patients with dentition defects and dental deformities. Methods From February 2020 to February 2021, 84 patients with dentition defect and dental malformation admitted to the Department of Stomatology of the Fifth People's Hospital of Pingdu City were selected as the research objects. They were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, with 42 patients in each group. The control group received routine restoration therapy, while the experimental group received a combination of orthodontic and restoration treatment. The treatment e?ects, tooth recovery, oral hygiene, restoration satisfaction, and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The total e?ective rate of the experimental group was 95.24%, which was higher than 80.95% of the control group (P<0.05). The masticatory efciency and bite ability of the experimental group were better than those of the control group (P<0.05). The plaque index and soft scale index of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The satisfaction scores of aesthetics, chewing function, swallowing function, pronunciation function, and dental occlusal relationship in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the experimental group was 2.38%, which was lower than the 16.67% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of orthodontic and restorative treatment has a good e?ect on patients with dentition defects and dental deformities, which can improve treatment efciency, improve plaque index and soft scale index, promote tooth function recovery, reduce the incidence of complications, improve patient satisfaction, and have ideal application value.
