Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of oral health education combined with family intervention nursing in orthodontics. Methods A total of 100 orthodontic patients admitted to Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital from January 2021 to February 2022 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 50 patients in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, and the observation group was given oral health education combined with family intervention nursing. The periodontal indexes, oral function, gingivitis teeth and dental caries were compared between the two groups. Results After one month of orthodontics, the plaque index, gingival sulcus bleeding index and gingival index scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the attachment loss and periodontal pocket depth were better than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After one year of orthodontics, the scores of fixation function, language function and mastication function in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of gingivitis in the observation group was lower than that in the control group 6 months after orthodontic treatment, and the incidence of gingivitis and caries in the observation group 1 year after orthodontic treatment was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion For orthodontic patients, oral health education and family intervention nursing can help improve their periodontal indexes, improve oral function and prevent the occurrence of gingivitis and dental caries.
