Abstract:The etiology of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is complex, involving physical anatomy, social psychology, environmental genetics and other factors. Studies have shown that if TMD occurs before or during orthodontic treatment, it may increase the difficulty and risk of treatment. Therefore, the prevention and treatment of TMD is of great significance to improve the effect of orthodontic treatment. This article aims to review the diagnosis of TMD, TMD screening before orthodontic treatment and the factors that may induce TMD in orthodontic treatment.
