Objective To observe the application effect of cosmetic suture technique in the treatment of patients with oral and maxillofacial trauma. Methods A total of 110 patients with oral and maxillofacial trauma admitted to our hospital from May 2023 to March 2024 were selected as research objects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into reference group (n =55) and experimental group (n =55). The reference group was treated with conventional suture technique, and the experimental group was treated with cosmetic suture technique. The wound healing, satisfaction, postoperative scar length and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The excellent and good rate of wound healing in the experimental group was 96.36%, which was higher than 83.64% in the reference group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The scores of wound scar satisfaction, wound healing satisfaction, wound aesthetic satisfaction and suture operation satisfaction in the experimental group were higher than those in the reference group, and the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05). The postoperative scar length of the experimental group was shorter than that of the reference group, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The incidence of complications in the experimental group was 5.45%, which was lower than 20.00% in the reference group, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion For patients with oral and maxillofacial trauma, cosmetic suture technique can help patients to obtain better suture effect, which is more conducive to promoting wound healing, reducing complications, shortening postoperative scar length and improving patient satisfaction.
