Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical effect of periodontal basic treatment combined with invisible correction or fixed orthodontic treatment for malocclusion with chronic periodontitis. Method: Sixty patients with malocclusion and chronic periodontitis in our hospital from January 2021 to January 2024 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group according to different treatment plans, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received periodontal basic treatment combined with fixed orthodontic treatment, while the observation group received periodontal basic treatment combined with invisible correction. The orthodontic effects, periodontal health level, and complications of the two groups were compared. Result: (1) The observation group had a correction rate of 90.00%, while the control group had a correction rate of 93.33% (P>0.05); (2) Before treatment, there was no significant difference in periodontal index between the two groups, P>0.05; After treatment, the observation group had significantly better probing depth (2.62 ± 0.33) mm, clinical attachment level (1.65 ± 0.32) mm, plaque index (1.22 ± 0.21), and gingival crevicular bleeding index (1.14 ± 0.22) than the control group, P<0.05; (3) The complication rate of the observation group was 6.67%, significantly lower than that of the control group (30.00%)(P<0.05). Conclusion: The combination of periodontal basic treatment and invisible orthodontic treatment for malocclusion with chronic periodontitis has an ideal effect, which can achieve ideal orthodontic results, promote patients" periodontal health, and is safe and reliable.
