Abstract:Suture is the preferred method for incision closure after surgical treatment, and the scar is the inevitable result of incision healing. Scar hyperplasia not only affects the appearance of the surgical area, but may also cause pain, itching and dysfunction, which can seriously affect the quality of life of patients. Currently, mechanical tension around the surgical area has been shown to be a major factor in scar formation and development. Therefore, how to reduce the mechanical tension in the surgical area has become the key to preventing scar proliferation. The tension-reducing suture technique can fully reduce the tension through its special technique, which plays an important role in preventing scar proliferation and improving the aesthetics of the healing incision. Based on this, this article reviews the relationship between scar formation and mechanical tension, as well as the common types of tension-reducing suture techniques.
