Abstract:Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is a kind of disease that occurs in the temporomandibular joint structure and is mainly characterized by changes in the position of the articular disc. Anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDWoR) of the temporomandibular joint is the most common type of TMD, which often involves the structures among the disc, condyle and fossa, resulting in maxillofacial deformity. Such problems need to be addressed surgically to simultaneously resolve functional and aesthetic defects. This article focuses on exploring the correction principle and clinical value of arthroscopic and open surgery for ADDWoR, and analyzes its impact on facial aesthetics.
