Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of orthodontics combined with periodontal basic therapy for anterior teeth displacement caused by periodontal disease and its influence on aesthetics. Methods A total of 60 patients with anterior teeth displacement caused by periodontal disease who visited our hospital from February 2022 to February 2023 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group and the observation group, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received periodontal basic therapy, and the observation group received orthodontics combined with periodontal basic therapy. The periodontal condition, aesthetics, masticatory function recovery and improvement of anterior teeth displacement were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the plaque index score, sulcus bleeding index score and periodontal pocket depth in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). The aesthetics score in the observation group was (8.51±1.12)scores, which was higher than (6.22±1.07)scores in the control group (P <0.05). After treatment, the masticatory efficiency in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the labial inclination of upper anterior teeth, labial inclination of lower anterior teeth, overjet and overbite were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Orthodontics combined with periodontal basic therapy for patients with anterior teeth displacement caused by periodontal disease can effectively improve their periodontal condition, enhance masticatory function and aesthetics, and correct anterior teeth displacement, with high clinical application value.
