Abstract:The Impact of Combined Orthodontic and Implant-Supported Prosthetic Treatment on Periodontal Health and Restorative Outcomes in Adults with Malocclusion Zhang Jianjun (Qixia District Hospital, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210038, China) [Abstract] Objective: To explore the periodontal health and restorative outcomes of combined orthodontic and implant-supported denture therapy in adult malocclusion patients. Methods: This study included 74 adult malocclusion patients treated at Qixia District Hospital in Nanjing from February 2023 to January 2025. Based on admission order, the patients were equally divided into two groups: the control group received orthodontic treatment alone, while the study group underwent combined orthodontic and implant-supported denture therapy. The restorative efficiency, oral and speech function, periodontal health indicators, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. Results: (1) After treatment, the study group showed a significantly higher excellent/good restorative rate (97.30%) compared to the control group (P<0.05). (2) Post-treatment, the study group exhibited higher plaque attachment index, soft plaque index, and gingival index scores than the control group (P<0.05). (3) The study group demonstrated superior oral and speech function scores and a lower complication rate than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combined treatment approach of orthodontic correction and implant-supported denture restoration for adult malocclusion patients significantly improves speech and oral function, enhances restorative outcomes, while also maintaining periodontal health and reducing the risk of complications.
