Abstract:Skeletal malocclusion, a developmental deformity with a relatively high incidence in clinical practice, not only presents abnormal skeletal relationship, but also has abnormal dental relationship. Skeletal malocclusion not only seriously affects patients' social interactions, occlusal function and facial aesthetics, but also poses a certain threat to their mental health. At present, in the clinical treatment of patients with skeletal malocclusion, orthodontic camouflage treatment is often difficult to achieve satisfactory results, while combined orthodontics and orthognathic treatment can not only effectively improve the occlusal relationship, but also optimize patients' facial shape, achieving relatively ideal therapeutic effect. With the gradual development and improvement of surgical techniques, in addition to the traditional model, combined orthodontics and orthognathic treatment has gradually developed into other methods including the surgery-first approach. This article mainly reviews the application progress of combined orthodontics and orthognathic treatment in patients with skeletal malocclusion, aiming to provide certain guidance for the clinical treatment of patients with skeletal malocclusion.
