Abstract:In recent years, the proportion of adult orthodontics has been increasing. Due to adults' more complex psychological and social needs, they have stronger aesthetic requirements for orthodontic appliances. Some patients even refuse treatment because they cannot accept labial orthodontic appliances. Compared with traditional metal brackets, ceramic brackets and plastic brackets are more aesthetic, but they are still visible, especially with a high risk of staining after being worn for a period of time. The lingual orthodontic system can not only fully meet the patients' aesthetic needs, but also achieve three-dimensional root control movement, which is suitable for complex cases with high indications and stable effects. However, the adaptation time of lingual orthodontic appliances is longer, and in the early stage of wearing, it will affect patients' mastication and pronunciation to a certain extent. For clinicians, lingual orthodontics has higher requirements and greater operational difficulty, and lacks evidence-based medical evidence. Some orthodontists have not fully understood the lingual orthodontic technique, which hinders its development to a certain extent. This paper mainly summarizes the development of lingual invisible orthodontic technique, analyzes the characteristics of commonly used lingual brackets in clinical practice and the application of lingual orthodontic technique in clinical practice, and discusses the selection of archwire, orthodontic force and combined technique, in order to provide certain reference for the clinical application of lingual invisible orthodontic technique.
