Objective: To observe and analyze the clinical effect of intense pulsed light (IPL) combined with tacalcitol ointment in the treatment of follicular erythematous faciopharyngeal hyperpigmentation (EFFC) on the face and neck. Methods: From May 2023 to May 2025, 48 patients with EFFC on the face and neck were selected from the dermatology department and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group (24 cases each). The control group was treated with IPL, while the experimental group was treated with IPL combined with topical tacalcitol ointment. The therapeutic effect was evaluated at the end of the treatment, and the changes in skin lesions before and after treatment were observed, as well as the adverse reactions. Results: The improvement of follicular papules in the experimental group was better than that in the control group (P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in the improvement of pigmentation and telangiectasia between the two groups (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups during the treatment period (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of IPL and tacalcitol ointment is effective in improving the skin lesions of EFFC patients, with definite therapeutic effects and few adverse reactions.
